My call-to-action or my purpose for writing this paper about peer pressure is that I hope that people will feel more inclined to make their own decisions without letting peer pressure affect them. I also hope that after college students read my paper that they feel that they should stand up for what they believe in. After reading my paper, I want people to be proud of who they are and to create their own morals and values. Laos, I want them to know that you should not let others change them for the worst and they it is okay to be different. I want them to make sure that their friends are good people to be around and that they do not peer pressure them into doing bad things, like binge drinking or doing drugs. I want students to feel that they are smart and to be confident about who they are and what they believe. I want college students to go out and help others stand up against peer pressure and to help them become their own leaders. I want my call to action to be direct and as straight forward as possible, so that way it is easy for people to understand why I am writing the paper. I want my call action to not be preached, but suggested because I do not want to sound like an adult preaching to kids about right versus wrong. I feel that the best way to get my purpose across is to use some comedy and to just flat out state the purpose.
My parents have always brought me up with the idea to stick to the group that does well in school and doesn't skip to do drugs. I am so blessed for this.
ReplyDeleteMy parents brought me up the same way as well. I think that being brought up this way makes it easier to know what is right and what is wrong. Also I feel as if I am more capable of resisting peer pressure because I was brought up in such a supportive environment.
ReplyDeleteI was brought up in the same way that both of you were. I am very glad for that because I believe I have my life on the right track and I never felt that I was in a bad situation in high school. Nor do I feel that way now. I appreciate this lesson in my life.
ReplyDeleteI was also brought up like you and the others who have commented. I think that as long as your parents cared about you and showed an interest in your life, then you have a greater advantage of have better morals for life. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think this will appear to some people, but mostly the minority. I'm not sure that peer pressure will ever be really dealt with because most people refuse to recognize its dualistic nature. It's common to hear about people that want you to not heed "bad" peer pressure, yet the "good" peer pressure is ohkay. Well, it's not really because everyone's idea of what is good and bad depends on their personal belief system. Peer pressure is a natural function of society. You should explore addressing why we don't tell people to ignore the pressue from their peers to conform to attending college, or to not get knocked up at this point in their lives, etc. It's weird to think about, but sometimes what is right for an individual isn't what we collectively establish peer pressure for as "good".
ReplyDeletepeer pressure can be good at times and can also be bad too. Depending on who you're with and i think it's important for you to make that clear. Also, students might confuse advice with peer pressure?
ReplyDeleteI think the comical aspect will be a good choice to make readers listen to you instead of trying to preach because lets be honest we've been preached to our entire lives
ReplyDeletePeer pressure can definitely be both good and bad. If you didnt have peer pressure, maybe people would not be as competitive?
ReplyDeleteIndiasulainis-"You should explore addressing why we don't tell people to ignore the pressue from their peers to conform to attending college, or to not get knocked up at this point in their lives, etc." I do not understand what you mean by this comment? Are you saying that I should just explore the pressures of attending college?
ReplyDelete@Megs71492 Yeah i will make sure that I make it clear that it all depends on who you are as to whether peer pressure is good or bad
ReplyDelete@MandyPyle That is a good point that without good peer pressure the competitiveness in people would probably be gone
